Your Path to Certification

The path to certification begins with education. The California Consortium of Addiction Programs and Professionals (CCAPP) requires all applicants to complete 315 hours of education covering specific topics related to Alcohol and Other Drugs, as well as 255 hours of supervised internship experience.

Upon completion of the educational requirement and the internship, you will be ready to take the Alcohol/Drug Counselor written examination, administered by the International Credentialing & Reciprocity Consortium (IC&RC). A passing score on the exam, in addition to 3000 hours of on-the-job work experience in the behavioral health industry, will qualify you for certification. Find out more about the different levels of certification offered by CCAPP here.

We understand that your time is valuable and the road to certification may seem long. Our academic advisors will work with you to establish a personalized plan to achieve certification in the fastest possible timeframe.
